Wood Inset Stoves

A woodburning inset stove is generally installed within a solid fuel fireplace to replace an open fire or wood burning back boiler, although some can be fitted with a four sided frame higher up the chimney breast, removing the need for a complete fireplace, thus saving space. The benefits of a wood inset stove are they do not require a full inglenook opening creating, avoiding the building work this creates and the wood inset stove has a lot greater efficiency than open fires, with efficiencies in excess of 80%. Many of the inset woodburning stoves have clean contemporary look to fit in any modern simple surroundings.

Wood burns best on a bed of ash with its combustion air coming from above, so wood burning only inset stoves have a flat fuel bed with very little or no air entering beneath the fuel. We recommend you buy fully seasoned or kiln dried wood to ensure you get premium performance from you stove, look out for the 'Woodsure Ready to Burn' scheme when purchasing fuel.
