When installing this item, how far away from your TV should it be so that the heat does not rise and damage your TV? And can you tell me if it has a directional heat setting to point the heat towards the room rather than up in the air?

There are no specific guideline that this manufacturer advises, but it would be recommended to have at least 300mm between the top of the fireplace and the bottom of the TV. There is no directional heat setting on this fire, but the heater is positioned in a way to effectively blow the heat further out into the room.
