Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a wood burner hot tub take to heat up?
The heating time of the water within a wood-fired hot tub can vary, the three main variables are the size of the tub, the quality of the firewood and the air temperature. On average at a temperature of 0°C, the wood-fired tubs we supply can take up to 3 hours to heat up. To maintain the heat and achieve quicker heat up times you may wish to consider buying a cover for your hot tub.
How much wood do I need to heat a log burning hot tub?
The amount of wood you will use to heat up your tub can vary depending on the starting temperature of the water, the quality of the wood, and the outside air temperature. The estimated consumption of these hot tubs is between 5-10 loads per day of use. We recommend using dry wood with a moisture content of less than 20%. You can start with smaller pieces and then build up to larger logs when the fire gets going.
How often does the water need to be changed?
With normal family use, we recommend changing the water after one or two days. However, with correct chemical and filter use, the water can be used for up to 3 months. You should always use a sanitising chemical if you bathe in the water more than once.
Are log-fired hot tubs tough to maintain?
Wood-fired hot tubs are very easy to maintain with very low running costs. When not in use, simply drain the water, clean the bathing area and clean out the ash from the heater. When you next come to use the tub, refill and heat it again.
