How Many Pizzas Fit in a Gozney Dome?

When it comes to pizza ovens the Gozney Dome is about as big as you can buy before stepping into the commercial pizza oven territory. Measuring a whopping 732mm in width the Gozney Dome can easily cater for two smaller-sized pizzas side-by-side. If you’re using wood as the fuel then we recommend cooking one pizza at a time as the wood takes up a portion of the space inside the Dome, if you’re using gas then there is a bit more room on the pizza stone.

Cook More Than Pizza in a Dome!

When it comes to cooking outdoors in your Dome don’t think of it as just a pizza oven, you can cook so much more! If you're cooking food such as steak, vegetables or flatbreads, there's enough room to fit two small skillets side by side.

What is the Difference Between Gozney and Ooni Pizza Ovens?

There are lots of differences between Gozney and Ooni pizza ovens however it is clear that both brands are industry-leading when it comes to producing high-quality outdoor ovens. The Ooni range is certainly designed to be more portable than the Dome and therefore much lighter and easier to carry around; the Dome is designed to stay in the same position in your garden.

Because of the size of the Dome, it can take a little longer for the pizza stone to reach a suitable temperature to cook pizza. The Gozney Dome takes around 30-40 minutes to achieve a temperature of 500°C whereas the Ooni Karu 16 takes around 20 minutes to achieve a similar temperature.

Both brands are top contenders when it comes to pizza oven cooking choices. The main six features of why you should buy a Gozney Dome pizza oven are:

1. With Gozney’s super thick insulation, the outdoor temperature is less of an issue in cold weather.
2. Dual fuel capabilities mean the Dome can be powered by either wood or propane straight out of the box.
3. The oven features a battery-powered digital thermostat that allows you to monitor the temperature of the oven at all times.
4. When it comes to the overall look and design the Dome pizza oven really looks the part!
5. With an overall width of 732mm and an oven mouth that measures 409mm x 130mm, you can fit two decent pizzas within the oven at the same time!
6. The Dome comes with a manufacturer-backed 5-year warranty that covers all the essential parts of the oven.

Is the Gozney Dome Made in the UK?

Yes, Gozney ovens are designed and manufactured right here in the UK… isn’t that amazing!  Based in Christchurch, Dorset the company was first launched after its founder Tom Gozney built a pizza oven in his back garden which started to attract the interest of local restaurants! The Roccbox portable pizza oven was then developed and soon after the next-level Gozney Dome was Brough to the market.

Can a Gozney Dome be Left Outside?

A Gozney Dome can be used outdoors in all weather when correctly positioned in a well-ventilated area. As a caveat, we recommend fully reading the owner's manual for further advice on where your Gozney should live and how to use it.

During periods of the year when you’re not using your Dome, you should keep it covered to prevent the stone from taking on any moisture. Gozney offers a brilliant protective cover that will shelter your Dome when you’re not using it or when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

What Temperature Should a Gozney Dome be to Cook on?

To cook pizza the temperature you should aim to maintain after lighting a Gozney Dome is around 450°C or 850°F. This temperature will heat the stone base and ensure it stays hot and cooks consistently even when you’re re-fuelling it when using wood. You can add fuel inside the pizza oven as and when needed but add small amounts a little at a time and ensure to maintain good airflow through the fire.

Which is the Best Colour Gozney Dome?

We love both colours that the Gozney Dome is available in but the ‘bone’ colour seems to be the most popular one that our customers tend to buy.

Due to the open flame and the fire produced within the oven occasionally smoke and soot will need to be cleaned from the ceramic dome above the opening where you load in the pizza. This could be a reason to consider the ‘olive’ coloured Gozney Dome as the sooty marks won’t be as visible upon this colour.

When it comes to cleaning your Dome, any soot can be easily removed by using a non-caustic cleaning spray once your Dome is cool. For more persistent soot marks, try a cleaning agent like Bar Keepers Friend.

We hope our Gozney Dome buying guide has convinced you to purchase one but if you have any questions we’ve not answered then feel free to contact us. You might want to pop into one of our stores to look at a Gozney Dome beforehand too, just give us a call prior to ensure we have what you want to see on display.
