It is important to burn well-seasoned or kiln-dried logs on your stove to ensure it remains an eco-friendly and renewable energy source. These stoves work most efficiently when you burn wood on a bed of ash, which helps to prolong the burn times as the wood burns by only taking oxygen from the air above. Frequently Asked Questions
Are wood burning stoves banned?Good news! There is no plan to ban log burners, but there have been some changes. From 2022, all new stoves that are produced must meet Ecodesign standards, which means they are more energy efficient and use 70% fewer logs than an open fire and 20% less than older model stoves. If you already own a log burner, there are no plans in place to prevent you from using your stove.
Is it cheaper to run a log burner or a gas fire?Once initial installation costs are met, experts suggest that the cost of running a log burner is cheaper than its gas equivalent. According to the Energy Saving Trust, a log burner could cost a third of electric heating bills and 13% less than gas central heating.
