DEFRA Approved Stoves for Smoke Controlled Areas

Looking for a new stove that will not only bring warmth and charm to your home but also meet the highest standards of efficiency and eco-friendliness? Look no further than a DEFRA-approved stove that is suitable for use in smoke-exempt (SE) urban towns and city zones.

These stoves are specifically designed to be compliant with the UK government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) standards. DEFRA stoves have undergone rigorous testing to ensure low emissions, high efficiency, and optimal performance. By choosing a DEFRA-approved wood-burning or multi-fuel stove, you are not only keeping your home cosy but also doing your part in reducing your carbon footprint.

Here we offer a fantastic selection of DEFRA exempt wood burning stoves and multi-fuel stoves from industry-leading brands such as Stovax, Arada, Burley, AGA, and many more. Under the Clean Air Act 1993, a DEFRA-approved wood burning stove must be capable of cleanly burning authorised coals and other solid fuel and they achieve this with the latest combustion tech which does not restrict airflow into the firebox and allows what is known as slumbering a stove. This helps to prevent part-burned combustibles like soot and ash from going up your chimney and into the air. For this reason, DEFRA wood burning stoves are better for the environment and you're far less likely to have a blocked chimney.
