Eco Stoves
An EcoDesign stove is an eco-friendly alternative to wood burning stoves, as they support the Government's Clean Air Strategy and help to further reduce emissions so we can achieve a greener future. To explain further, the Ecodesign Regulation has set a new minimum efficiency standard and has laid down maximum emission requirements for all solid fuel stoves, room heater stoves with boilers, and cooking appliances.
Ecodesign stoves produce efficiencies of over 75% and in turn create more heat to ensure fewer emissions are produced whilst saving fuel in the process. Below, we've included some handy FAQs and guidance for first-time shoppers that we hope will help to explain the new Ecodesign regulations in more detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Ecodesign Stove?Ecodesign wood burning stoves pass or exceed the requirements of the governments Clean Air Strategy which promotes better air quality and efficiency. We believe that Ecodesign stoves represent the future of wood burning within the UK, and all newly produced solid fuel appliances were required to meet the Ecodesign criteria by the 1st January 2022.
What are the Best Environmentally Friendly Stoves? If you are in the market for an efficient and environmentally friendly wood burning stove, you're in the right place. Here you'll find our selection of the best eco stoves available, all Ecodesign ready with exceptional energy efficiency ratings. If you live in a smoke controlled area, you may be interested in our DEFRA-approved stoves.
What are the Benefits of an Ecodesign Stove?EcoDesign-ready stoves produce fewer emissions and burn much more cleanly than older appliances and open fires. They reduce particle emissions, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. Eco-stoves also meet the minimum efficiency criteria of 75% and they reach high heat levels, which reduce the amount of smoke that is produced. With its efficient combustion system, an Ecodesign stove is approximately 3 times more efficient than an open fire which means it costs much less to run.
