Frequently Asked Questions

What is a conventional flue gas stove?

Conventional flue gas stoves use the natural circulation of heated air to take combustion gases from the stove and up the chimney or flue. For more information on the different types of chimneys in the UK, or for advice on how to identify the type of flue you have, check out our blog post on different types of chimneys and flues.

Can you buy a gas stove that looks like a wood burner?

Yes, many modern gas stoves look incredibly realistic, so you can enjoy living flame technology that mimics the look of a log burner without the inconvenience and labour that comes with maintaining a solid fuel stove.

Do I need a flue liner with a gas stove?

If you're looking to install a conventional flue gas stove into a conventional brick chimney (Class 1), you may wish to consider fitting a flue liner. A flue liner helps protect you from carbon monoxide if your chimney were to leak. Our customers often opt to buy a solid fuel liner as they are designed to withstand higher temperatures, and it future-proofs your fireplace if you decide to change it down the line.
